Stars for Memorial Day
Summer is on it’s way so I decided to set the table on the patio. Here in the desert when the height of summer is upon us, sometimes the heat is overwhelming.
Memorial Day is thought of as the start of summer. Of hot days and long nights, barbeques, baseball and days at the beach or relaxing by the pool. What must not be forgotten is to honor the men and women of the US Armed Services who gave their lives while serving our country.
What started as Decoration Day after the Civil War, became known as Memorial day in the 1880’s. In 1968, the date was changed from May 30th to the last Monday in May. Thereby creating the first three day weekend of the summer.
Would you choose to sit at a red, a white or a blue place setting?
I love the star sprays on the table, I got them for $5 each on clearance.
It gets windy here in the high desert, so I have put out a few quilts for those who are get a little chilly when the sun goes down.. A nine-patch on point at the table.
We might need a some candlelight
and some sparkle.
After the meal we can sit in the Adirondack chairs and listen to the waterfall as it splashes into the pool. Wrapped up in one of the quilts draped over the rockers.

Your quilts are AMAZING!! I am visiting from Cuisine Kathleen to see your beautiful table, but am blown away by your beautiful quilts. My grandmother was an avid quilter but unfortunately it was not a craft she passed on to me...she tried, but unfortunately when I was younger I failed to appreciate such a wonderful talent. Your table is beautiful. Love the little start plates and the Longaberger baskets are precious. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm a quilt lover, and a red white and blue lover! Your post is wonderful and beautiful. I will be back for more visiting. Your blog is so good. Lots of goodies to look at!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Debbie

ReplyDeleteHope to see you on my blog:)
A girl after my own heart....quilts and Longaberger!! It doesn't get any better than this. Your glass stars makes me wonder if you were a part of Linda Rodgers group?
ReplyDeleteNope, I am a part of Tamra Tracy's group. Although with my quilt store I just sell a small amount on the side. I agree Longaberger has great products.
DeleteHi Dawna!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all... welcome to blogland! Looks like you're off to a great start.
Btw, I also live in the desert.
Your table is full of great items. I love the miniature Longaberger baskets. The place settings are eye catching as each one is a different color combination.
Can't leave without telling you that those quilts are So pretty and bright. Very patriotic indeed!

Wednesdays Bunny Hop Party!
Thanks for the welcome, I just visited your blog and completely understand the melting candle syndrome. Those who live in the lovely green probably never have to worry about it as we do. Dawna
DeleteOMGoodness, your quilts are beautiful! I LOVE this table and I love to set a red, white and blue table too. Love all your dishes, I am a dishaholic and am realizing how MANY I have, since we are moving and I am PACKING all of them:):) Have a great weekend. XO, Pinky
ReplyDeleteWhatever you do don't let any get away. Years ago I gave my Mary Englebreit cherry dishes to a friend who redid her kitchen in cherries. I have so many other sets, but somehow I still miss them. I am obviously a dishaholic as well.
DeleteBeautiful Memorial Day tribute. I have only recently started quilting and I love it. I've made two for the bed, a couch throw and a table runner. It is so much fun. I love your quilts.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I'd love to stroll down our street and hang out, but I'm leaving town again on Thursday....what time are you going in to the shop tomorrow? Call me....
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous! I love it!!!!
