The 4th

The 4th of July has arrived again. A time for beaches, bbq’s and fireworks. I love the sound and the color as they explode in the sky.

Exploding in my neighborhood and watching sparks land in my backyard not so much. There have been too many people who have recently lost so much due to fire. I will keep my fire controlled on my dining room table.

I dedicate this table to my nephew Tim who serves our country as a Marine. My all of those in our armed services be blessed on this day of Independence.

I made the napkins from this Robert Kaufman fabric we have at Bolts. The link will take you directly to the online page if you need napkins out of the same fabric. There are at least 9 shades of gold in the printing.

Sorry this picture is a little blurry. No retakes as the camera battery died and I left the cord in Boise with the GG (Golf Guy).

I used the red salad plates last week for the O  Canada table. I also purchased the dinner plates, they are such an incredible red. The day I went to Home Goods  red plates were at the top of my wish list for the summer and there they were. It was dish fate! I keep thinking of new ways to use them. I had the hardest time deciding how to set the table this morning.

  1. "Dish Fate"! I love it -- and I plan to use it when my husband suggests perhaps I don't really NEED any new dishes. Your table is a wonderful tribute to Tim's service in the Marines, and I'll bet the candlelight really sparkled with that lovely mirror base.

  3. Hats off to Tim and to all of the men & women who serve our country and sacrifice so much. So sweet of you to dedicate this table to him! I love your striped chargers!!!! I'm with you on not enjoying the sounds and sights of fireworks going off near the house. It freaks me out every year that one of those will spark a fire and wreak havoc in the neighborhood! I hope you and yours enjoyed a safe and serene holiday.

  7. Your nephew would surely have loved to be at your table. I hope you shared it with him. With so many areas dry, dry, dry you are smart to keep your flames on the table.

  8. What a wonderful table to honor Tim with. My heartfelt thanks to him and his duty! Those napkins are beautiful! I can see them used at Christmas and New Years! As can your "fated" dishes! Your table puts any 4th sparkler to shame :-)
